Private Voice & Piano Lessons
Online & In-Person (North GA)
My teaching philosophy is always centered around the student's "why" and the belief that learning should ultimately be rewarding and joyful. Just like how the voice is a personal instrument, I believe teaching it requires an equally personal approach for each type of voice, and should always relate back to the students' wants, goals, and reasons for singing.
With that in mind, I encourage my students to develop a deep understanding of their voices and a discerning ear on how to tell types of sounds apart, relating to placement, resonance, and breath support. I want to give my students the power, freedom, and agency that comes from building the technique and knowledge to make informed choices as artists. Also, I encourage my students to take voice memos during lessons so they can revisit exercises, concepts, and discoveries in their practice between sessions, as muscles only grow stronger through informed repetition.
Ultimately, I believe gaining agency over the voice is a powerful motivator both in music and in life. When students begin to understand that their voices are instruments they can actively explore and shape, they develop curiosity, confidence, and access to a wider range of musical tools.
As a performer, I believe growth in the voice and growth as a human being are inseparable, and my goal as a teacher is to create a space where students can pursue both with intention, freedom, and joy.
